Luke Southgate and Tom Duffy, both 21, from Richmond North Yorkshire have been making music together for the past six years. They formed the duo known as Eskimo in 2001 and since have been writing and playing their unique style of easy listening, soulful, acoustic music all over the U.K.

The duo's talents have taken them to the last 32 of the London XFM unsigned competition, beating over 950 other entrants to earn a place in the finals. More recently they came second in TFM's competition for unsigned acts.
The pair have finished a year out working full time on their music and are currently picking their way through university while still gigging around U.K. Last year saw the release of their first album ‘Long Stories Short'. The album has been described as “melodic, soulful, acoustic music, easily accessible to the wider audience”. Revolution described Eskimo as “the best up and coming music act in the North East."

Over the past two years Eskimo have incorporated several more musicians into their live line up including Tom Mountjoy (Bass), Jonny Bunce (violin), Rhianne Evans (vocal), John Poffley (percussion) and Adam Gedye (piano). These additional people, over the past few years, have become, what is known as, Eskimo.

Eskimo are currently being helped by the CYC 6K Vision Records project, but are looking for professional help in realising their potential and completing themselves as a package that can be promoted. The band has already built a strong fan-base. They are not trying to fit into a particular genre. They just aim to write, what they think are, nice tunes and if it feels warm and fuzzy it's all good. They plan to re-record some aspects of the album over the coming summer to release on the public in December 2005.
